Earthmoving Queensland
Fleet Tyre Service’s team of experts is highly skilled and trained to help provide you with the products and services best suited for conventional vehicles. But we’re also passionate about tyres for earthmoving vehicles (tyres, cranes, reach stackers, port tyres) and we take the time to understand and anticipate customers’ needs. Our team of tyre suppliers and fitment crews can easily design, develop, and implement a custom tyre fitment and maintenance plan. The reason why we take the time to make tyre plans in a custom plan is that conditions can vary widely according to the vehicle and its application, individual driving style and prevailing road conditions – all of which impact the longevity of a tyre. There are many things that play a role in this and they can include all of the following:
- Tyre inflation pressure and upkeep
- The vehicles wheel alignment
- How it will be used for your industrial needs
- The loads that will need to be carried
- The distances involved in the project
- And any typical damage sustained in industrial environments
Protecting you from tyre tread wear
Unfortunately, you cannot always prevent your earthmoving vehicles from normal tread wear results because they will occur no matter what. That’s because they develop from contact between the tyre and the road surface and as long as your vehicle is in motion, then wear will develop. There are a number of things you can do to protect yourself from accelerated rates of wear and tear and we’ll discuss some of them below…
- Incorrect wheel alignment
- Badly fitted tyres can cause wear on the inner or outer shoulder of the tyre
- Driving on gravel or other unmade road types
- Rocky terrain can also contribute
- Insufficient tyre pressure
- Overinflated tyres will wear in the centre of the tread strip and underinflated tyres will show excessive wear on the outer ribs.
